Since today is the opening day of the 20th edition of the FIFA World Cup, we dedicate our last infographic to this amazing country, which is Brazil. In the map you can find the location of the main cities, the main wine regions and the 12 stadiums where this World Cup will be hosted.

In general Brazil has a relatively large number of vineyards, but a large part of them produce table grapes, and only some are used to producewine.

Since its proximity to the equator, most of the country is too hot and humid for viticulture. Most of the wine production of Brazil is located in the southern part of the country, in the state of Rio Grande do Sul, close to Uruguay and Argentina.

  • Brazil is the fifth-largest wine producer in the southern hemisphere, after Argentina, Australia, South Africa, Chile
  • Brazilian wines are fresh, fruity, very pleasant, and with a moderate alcohol content
  • There are over 1,100 wineries around the country, mostly based on small farms (an average of 2 hectares per family)
  • The total vineyards area is 82,000 hectares
