In southern Tuscany, at the foot of the picturesquely village of Capalbio, lies Monteverro. This is a region renowned for its authenticity and tradition and is characterized by its proximity to the sea, a love of life and a passion for art, as well as by hard agricultural toil.
The idea of running a high end winery in Tuscany stems from unbridled enthusiasm for outstanding wine. That’s how Monteverro winery was born. With the love for the Maremma region and the desire to achieve the utmost every day.
The result is some of the best and most exceptional wines in the world. This is not only thanks to Monteverro great exposure, the amazing slopes, the sea breeze and the red clay soil with large rocks, but of course to the people that make Monteverro so unique.
“We regard our wine as a total work of art – one sees it, smells it and tastes it. And of this, each and every one of us is proud.”
The winery goal is to create a world class wine such as a “Premier Grand Cru” of Tuscany – and to achieve the level of quality that is only possible by striving for perfection, through hard work and a loving attention to detail. This is why everyone at Monteverro is dedicated to doing their very best. From this passion, unique and authentic wines are created.
The grapes are hand-harvested and the exceptional terroir can be tasted in every sip. The most modern winemaking techniques and exceedingly meticulous methods are applied, throughout the entire production process. All this helps make a totally unique wine.
At Monteverro the steep slopes and immediate proximity of the sea offer a microclimate that makes for very special wines. The brisk wind, cool nights and sun-soaked days create optimum climatic conditions for growth. The unique composition of the soil – red clay mixed with eroded stones – makes the area one of the most mineral-rich in the world. This special terroir lends Monteverro wines their characteristic outstanding taste that makes them what they are – a unique experience.
Creating world class wines is not just a matter of respectful interaction with nature and the terroir: it is also about working with the greatest care, using the soil responsibly and a loving attention to detail. “We believe that only great grapes can make outstanding wines, there is nothing dearer to us than our vineyards. We use only the best grapes, which are individually harvested by hand.
The love of what we do allows us to make wines that are not only accentuated by the terroir but also exceptional wines that have excellent ageing potential. As a result, the wines we create speak for themselves.”
